At Wenhaston Primary School, we're dedicated to helping children grow into caring, responsible citizens with a strong sense of self. Our core values support and promote fundamental British Values.

• Democracy: We encourage discussion and critical thinking across the curriculum and value pupil voice in all aspects of school life. Pupils are given opportunities to present their ideas, building confidence and participation.  

• The rule of law: We expect and encourage behaviour and relationships that are fair, respectful and consistent.  

• Individual liberty: We aim for children to leave Wenhaston with a strong sense of self and the ability to communicate effectively. We support children to develop emotional self-awareness and independence.  

• Mutual respect and tolerance: Our curriculum teaches children about diverse people, places and cultures globally. Our R.E. and PSHE curriculum promotes tolerance and celebrates diversity. We work with our local community to build relationships and citizenship.  

How We Promote These Values

• Curriculum: Our curriculum is central to school life and promotes our school’s values. We use diverse narratives in English lessons.  

• School Ethos: We foster a welcoming, family atmosphere where all adults and children know and treat each other with positivity and care. We emphasise positive relationships within school.  

• Assemblies: We hold assemblies focusing on global issues.  

By embedding these values in daily life, we prepare our pupils to be active and responsible citizens in modern Britain.
